MRWD Assures Consumers of Sufficient Water Supply PDF Print E-mail
Information Officer Dante Arcangeles of the Roxas City Metro Roxas Water District disclosed that despite the El Niño phenomenon, the water member-consumers here remain assured that the water supply is still sufficient.

“So far, there is no problem yet on saltwater intrusion which can lead to contamination of drinking water sources and other consequences,” said Arcangeles. ‪

The main source of water of MRWD that supplies water in Roxas City and the towns of Panay, Ivisan, Panitan and Sigma, is the Panay River.

Anticipating, however, the possible effects of the long drought, steps have already been taken such as the repair of pipes and water lines with leakages, he said.

Arcangeles also called on the public to also check on their water lines at home and in their offices as well as to conserve water.

Records from MRWD show that as of December 31,2015, there are already 29,409 member-consumers that are being served by the water utilities here.

In August 1,2015, the MRWD has effected a water rate increase following the approval by the Local Water Utilities Administration Board of Trustees, citing as one the reasons an assurance for the public’s sufficient and continuous supply of high quality treated water and satisfactory water pressure.

The same will likewise benefit the member-consumers for a high quality and very satisfactory service delivery performance, Arcangeles said. (JCM/JBG/PIA6)
