Training for New Soldiers On PDF Print E-mail
Major Ray Tiongson, Public Affairs Office head of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division disclosed that the six-month training for the Candidate Soldier Course and Jungle Warfare and Mountain Operations Course  have formally started last October 26.

The said selected civilians who are aspiring to become members of the Philippine Army will be trained on various aspects focusing among others on discipline, military doctrines, policies and standard operating procedures he said.

“They will also learn the skills on basic weapons and Army techniques, tactics and procedures to prepare them to perform duties in the Infantry Squad,” Tiongson said, adding that the training will also transform them to become reliable, responsive and committed enlisted personnel of the Philippine Army.

The all male aspirants who come from the different provinces of Western and Central Visayas will be trained at the Division Training School for them to have a basic foundation expected of a soldier of the Philippine Army, who will be a source of pride of the Filipino people and the nation.

The 180 candidate soldiers earlier passed the strict and meticulous selection process based on the standard set by the Philippine Army, and after undergoing the competitive physical, medical, neurological and psychological examinations, he said.

On the other hand, 3ID Commander Maj. Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero is optimistic that these candidate soldiers will learn what the Army today is all about, that is an organization that practices excellence and good governance, respects human rights and adheres to the international humanitarian law and the rule of law.
