PENRO to Replant NGP Sites PDF Print E-mail
This was disclosed by PENRO chief during the recently concluded 1st Provincial Management Conference of PENRO officials and employees to review what has been in accomplished 2014 and formulate plans of activities for this year.

“Regular personnel will be involved and assigned in various NGP replanting sites,” he stressed.

Based on PENRO records, the NGP sites in the province cover 4,695 hectares since the program was launched at the Capiz Gym in 2011 until 2014.

NGP coordinator Joel Navarra said that a total of 1,405 hectares were covered by the NGP implementation last year that involved the contracted services of 16 People’s Organization based in Tapaz town.

The hinterland barangays of Sia, Taganghin, Bato-bato, Nayawan and Sta. Ana in Tapaz are the tree planting sites of the program last year.

These sites were planted with fruit trees, coffee and indigenous as well as fuel woods.

Under the program, about the 1.5 billion trees covering an estimated 1.5 million hectares of lands in public domain nationwide are being targeted by the government to plant from 2011 to 2016. (JCM/AAL/PIA6 Capiz)
