“Supply is sufficient and prices are stable at the monitored establishments and grocery stores,” said DTI provincial director Ermelinda Pollentes. Retailers to sell based on or below Suggested Retail Prices (SRPs).

The DTI also requested the supermarkets and grocery stores to report shortage of stocks so that appropriate actions will be made to inform the manufacturers on the status of their respective supplies.

Pollentes instructed the examiners to be vigilant in the continuing monitoring activity especially that the consumers are burdened by the effects of the typhoon.

The business sector has also been warned not to take advantage of the situation.

Pollentes has also called on the help of the various local government units in the monitoring of prices and reporting of unscrupulous businessmen in their localities during an interview with local Bombo Radyo station last week.

“Consumers should likewise be vigilant and should assert their rights as DTI is serious in its program to ensure their welfare and protection,” she noted. (JCM/AAL/PIA6 Capiz)
