Capiz Mentor is Semi-finalist in Metrobank's Tilt
Gilbert C. Galagate, a Master Teacher I of CNHS, is one of the two Capiceño teachers from among those recently chosen by the search’s Preliminary Board of Judges as Regional Finalist after hurdling the provincial level round last March.
As a regional finalist, Galagate is qualified to advance to the semi-final level.
“This will be a tough contest but I will do my best to bring honor to my family, school and the province,” Galagate said.
The Metrobank Foundation has awarded a number of outstanding Capiceña teachers in view of the prestigious annual quest for the country’s outstanding teachers.
These awardees are now Department of Education (DepEd) – Capiz Division Superintendent Dr. Eveleth C. Gamboa, DepEd Regional Supervisor in English Maydelyn Antioquia, Cabug-Cabug National High School Principal Rita Villareal in Pres. Roxas town, President Manuel Roxas Memorial School – Special Education (PMRMS-SPED) DepEd Principal Menia Alvidera (Roxas City Division) and retired teacher but presently employed as Capiz Chinese School Principal Gloria Tutica.
“After the devastating supertyphoon Yolanda that hit the province which caused havoc and catastrophes to Capiceños, God blesses the province with opportunities for its education sector to shine which simply shows God’s manifestation of faithfulness,” said CNHS principal Dr. Segundina F. Dollete on her teacher’s inclusion to the search of the Metrobank Foundation.
Galagate belongs to the Science & Technology Department with Mrs. Judy Dunton as the Officer-In-Charge. He presently teaches Science with Grade 8 School of the Future (SOF) students, Advanced Biology II (Cell & Molecular Biology) with 4th year Special Science Students and Nihongo (Japanese Language) with School of The Future (SOF) students.
He learned Nihongo while being a recipient of the Japan-Monbukagakusho Scholarship for the In –Service Training for Teachers (Biology Education) in Fukui University, Fukui, Japan from October 2008 to March 2010.
Aside from his teaching loads, Galagate serves as the SOF coordinator, the Master Teacher-In-Charge for Grade 8 Science and the School’s Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) secretary, among others.
A Cum Laude graduate of Bachelor in Secondary Education (BSEd) major in Biology at West Visayas State University, he earned his Master of Science in Biology as a DECS-NEAP Scholar at Ateneo de Manila University where he ranked 2nd among the 16 scholars. (JCM/AAL/PIA6 Capiz)
