This was disclosed by CAPELCO General Manager Engr. Edgar Diaz during a recent media interaction on the updates of the provincewide restoration efforts. The Task Force is composed of various electric cooperatives which helped in the restoration of CAPELCO's main power lines and energization of all town centers after typhoon Yolanda’s devastation in the province. “We received a positive response on our request for another round of assistance starting this month,” Diaz noted. A request letter to Sec. Jericho Petilla of the Department of Energy (DOE) was sent by the cooperative late last month which sought further help from other electric cooperative counterparts. The cooperative has yet to repair about 2,000 kilometers of secondary lines leading to the various barangays and sitios based on its Dec. 26 records. Diaz added that more than 110 barangays which included the island barangay of Olotayan here have been energized before the year 2013 ended. The records also showed that the distribution facility has incurred about P608-million damages on Yolanda’s wrath. CAPELCO was established in June 1971. (JCM/AAL/PIA 6 Capiz)
