Roxas City In Priority List For Road Fund PDF Print E-mail
The good news was conveyed by Sec. Mar Roxas of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in a letter to Roxas City mayor Angel Alan Celino. “We are informing you of your allocation under the CY 2013 SLRF amounting to P2,301,324.00 which was approved by the Road Board on April 5, 2013,” the DILG letter stated. The inclusion of the city government into the 2013 SLRF was made possible thru Sec. Roxas’ recommendation to avail the fund that would translate into better roads, improved drainage systems and better traffic management in the city. The DILG chief also enjoined the continued support to the various government programs and projects of the Aquino administration to speed up progress and development in the countryside. Roxas City Press Bureau chief Cyril Simpas said that Celino was upbeat and inspired after receiving and reading the DILG letter. In 2011, the Seal of Good Housekeeping was awarded by the DILG to the city government which comes with a P3-million from the Performance Challenge Fund that will serve as a counterpart funding to high-impact capital investment projects in the Annual Investment Program consistent with national priorities. The DILG award recognizes the LGUs exemplary performance in governance, transparency and accountability. (JCM/AAL/PIA6 Capiz)
