Capiz now hosting regional, national events PDF Print E-mail
Written by John Loberiza
ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug 7, 2013 -- The Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) has registered a number of regional and national events conducted here since January this year.

“Our accommodation establishments are now at par with other destinations,” said PTCAO head Alphonsus Tesoro, adding the various tourism initiatives of the city and province are now manifested with the bookings and schedules of meetings, conferences and exhibits. Most recent events hosted by the city include the national convention of Operating Room Nurses Association of the Philippines, world mission conference of the Bible Baptist, regional consultation workshop and updates for all Health Education and Promotion Officers (HEPO), cultural tour of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) regional staff, mini-convention of Integrated Bar of the Philippines and convention of Indigenous People’s youth, among others. Tesoro added that a lot of national and regional events have been calendared in the city until December. PTCAO has been pushing to make the province a venue for meetings, incentive travels, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) apart from being an agri-tourism destination in the country. The packaging of Capiz as the country’s agri-tourism destination was announced by President Aquino in Sigma town last February and will be officially available by the last quarter of this year. “These developments will transform into improved local economic activities,” Tesoro added. The tourism officer also noted that the provincial government, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, is also conducting a continuing orientation for tourism frontliners like waiters and waitresses and the various transport group workers as among the continuing initiatives to sustain the tourism gains of the province.
