Capiz PDRRMO Slates Water Rescue Training for IOs PDF Print E-mail
As part of the National Disaster Consciousness Month activities in Capiz, members of the Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers (CAGPIO) will undergo a one-day Basic Water Rescue training, July 30.

The event will be led by the Capiz Disaster Risk Reduction and management Office (PDRRMO) headed by Action Officer Esperedion Pelaez, who is also an Information Officer of said office.

The training is also in coordination with the Roxas city Philippine Coast Guard station, Pelaez said.

For CAGPIO president Donna Asmod of the Capiz Police Provincial Office, the basic training on water rescue is very important for information officers who are also in the forefront during disasters like flooding which the province of Capiz is always confronted due to heavy rains.

“Before we can save and inform others, it is better that we will first be capable also of saving our lives and our family during such incident,” Asmod said.

The Basic Water Rescue training is the third disaster-related activity of the Philippine Information Agency-led CAGPIO this year.

CAGPIO conducted two bloodletting activities in March 20 and July 5 that resulted in the collection of 118 bags of blood that were deposited to the Philippine Red Cross-Capiz Chapter local blood bank.

The PIA-CAGPIO bloodletting project is in response to the increasing number of dengue cases in Capiz. (JCM/JBG/PIA6-Capiz)
