9 Capiz Bloodletting Organizers To Get Regional Sandugo Awards PDF Print E-mail
Philippine Red Cross (PRC) – Capiz chapter Blood Services representative Ray Martinez said that the Sandugo awardees in the province are Dao, Mambusao and Ivisan towns for the municipal level category and barangays Bating in Mambusao, Capagao in Panit-an and Pob. Sur in Ivisan for the barangay level.

The three remaining awardees are Bombo Radyo – Roxas City, HerCor College (HERCOR) and Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion (CPC) for the non-local government units category.

Other provinces in the region have also their respective awardees.

The awarding is in line with this year’s Blood Donors Month celebration with the theme “Give the Gift of Life: Donate Blood.”

The Sandugo Award is the highest award given to local government units and private groups for their active involvement to maintain an adequate safe blood supply in the country.

The DOH initiative is in line with the Voluntary Blood Donation advocacy which was given a big boost about 20 years ago when Republic Act 7719 or the National Blood Services Act was passed by congress and signed by former Pres. Fidel V. Ramos.

It aims to motivate local as well as barangay officials and private group leaders to initiate and be involved and committed to the voluntary blood donation program. (JCM/AAL-PIA 6 Capiz)
