Capiz Schools Urged to Join Journalism Trainings
College publications from the province may join the second batch of trainees including those from Iloilo and Guimaras on July 31–August 2, PIA–6 Director Janet Mesa said.
The first batch of training scheduled for college publications from Aklan, Antique and Negros Occidental, will be on July 24–26, Mesa said.
On the other hand, high school publications from Capiz were encouraged to join Aklan and Guimaras participants in the training scheduled on August 7–9.
Other schedules for the high school-level workshops were August 14–16 for Antique and Iloilo, and August 28–30 for Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.
For the first time, principles of broadcast journalism and collaborative publishing were included in the high school-level trainings.
General modules for both college and high school levels include Development Agenda of the Aquino Administration, Principles and Practice of Development Communication, News and Feature Writing, Opinion Articles, Sports Writing, Writing in Filipino, Online Journalism/Social Media Ethics, Photojournalism, Copy Editing/Headlining, and Page Design.
Details of the trainings can be obtained from the different PIA information centers in the provinces, or from the regional office through (033) 3377301 and 5090993.
This year’s seminar-workshops have the theme “Convergence Journalism.”
Mesa said the trainings are in partnership with Smart Communications, which facilitates the journ.ph platform for online journalism.
“Smart has been consistent in its support, which has added value to our campus journalism trainings,” she said. (PIA–6/PN)
