Capicenos Told to Avoid Too Much Heat
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (April 01) – Capiz folks have been reminded to take extra precaution against too much heat especially while observing the Holy Week.
Dr. Leah Del Rosario of the Capiz Provincial health Office calls on the public to avoid too much exposure to heat as the same could result to heat stroke.
She said that over crowded areas should be avoided and more water should be taken in to prevent dehydration.
“Those who are to join the procession should eat to avoid hypoglycemia and take more water and avoid taking ice tea or coffee as the same are diuretic,” Del Rosario said.
She said government hospitals and Rural Health Units are on Code White alert to ensure that immediate medical response for possible injury or incident during this lent.
The alert as directed by the Department of Health will start on Maundy Thursday until Easter Sunday, where doctors, supplies, medicines and ambulances are already on standby and non-duty medical officers are on call.
The Code White Alert is adopted by the DOH when there is a forecast cyclone such as typhoon or national holiday like the Holy Week which may result in potential mass casualty, injury or hazard.
Del Rosario explained that under the said alert status, emergency medicines and supplies are made available at the emergency rooms of hospitals and health facilities under the DOH.
