Capiz Holds Peaceful Christmas Celebration PDF Print E-mail
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (Dec. 27) – No fire incidents during the Christmas Day celebration has been recorded by the Roxas City Fire Marshal of the Bureau of Fire Protection.
Provincial Health Office records also showed that there were no victims of stray bullets and watusi ingestion as of today. However, two firecracker-related injuries were recorded last Dec. 25 from Pontevedra town.

The Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO), in coordination with the PHO, BFP, Department of Trade and Industry and concerned local government units, has strengthened the enforcement of “Aksyon Paputok Injury Reduction (APIR) in order to minimize harm during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Capiz police director S/Supt. Domingo S. Cabillan has also directed all local municipal police stations to conduct house-to-house visitation and other information dissemination activities in view of the APIR campaign.

Policemen also helped in posting APIR campaign posters from the Department of Health last week in school premises, malls, markets and other various strategic locations in the province.

“For our part, all PNP personnel’s firearms were muzzle taped last week to ensure that no policeman will be involved in indiscriminate firing,” Cabillan said in a CPPO press release.

The law enforcement authorities campaign to reduce firecracker and other celebration-related injuries will continue until New Year’s Day celebration.
