DSWD Releases Q4 Social Pension for Capiceņos
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (Dec. 15) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Regional Office 6 has released to municipal and city treasurers in the province the fourth quarter pension of qualified Capiceño social pensioners last Dec. 10.
Capiz has a total of 1,699 qualified pensioners since 2011.
“Each pensioner will receive P1,500,” said a DSWD – Capiz Field Office staff.
She added that the local government units (LGU) will schedule the release of the social pension in their respective localities.
For this year, the national government has allocated more than P10-million which are released on a quarterly basis.
Eligible senior citizens for the program are 77 years old and above, frail, sick or with disability, and without pension or permanent source of income or regular support from relatives to meet their basic needs.
The program aims to alleviate poverty and support the elderly Filipino citizens as part of President Benigno Aquino III’s social contract as well as commitment to the Millennium Development Goals.
The upcoming distribution of social pension will sum up to P6,000 financial assistance for the year from the national government for every social pensioner in the province.
