Mobile Technology School to Help Jobless Capiceņos
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (Nov 26) – Out-of-school youth (OSY) and other interested individuals here will now have an opportunity to join skills training program for gainful employment.
This initiative to help jobless Capiceños has been formalized by the Roxas City government thru a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Mobile Technology School (MTS) implementers in the province.
MTS in the city will cover skills training on Basic Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Beauty Care, Dress Making, Commercial Cooking, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Consumer Electronics Servicing, Furniture and Cabinet Making, Meat Processing, Food Technology, Electrical Installation and Computer Hardware Servicing.
It is a brainchild of the Capiz State University (CapSU) – Roxas City main campus and implemented in collaboration with the Capiz provincial government, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Hundreds of OSYs have already graduated from the MTS trainings in various parts of the province.
Aside from OSYs, graduates from the training courses also included inmates and police dependents, among others.
The MOA signing was led Roxas City Mayor Angel Alan Celino, Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco, Sr., and representatives William Dungog and Dr. Pedro Gabino of DOLE – Capiz and CapSU, respectively.
Roxas City Press Bureau (RCPB) staff Jonathan Palomar said that Celino has conveyed his appreciation during the MOA signing activity that MTS will benefit OSYs and other jobless residents of the city.
He added that the training sessions on designated venues will be conducted every weekend.
Initial registrants for the upcoming MTS classes particularly on Basic Arc Welding, SMAW and Beauty Care are those who requested for the training during the conduct of the city government’s barangay caravan in the past months. (JCM/AAL/PIA 6 Capiz)
