ROXAS CITY, Capiz (Oct 3) -- Some 300 civil servants, students and private individuals joined the fun run of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in Capiz.

Capiz-CSC Director Maria Lina Gonzaga said 351 government employees, students and employees of private groups registered for the first “Responsive, Accessible, Courteous and Effective (RACE) to Serve Fun Run.”

The activity, which concluded the month-long Philippine Civil Service celebration in September, was spearheaded by the Capiz Council of Human Resource Management Practitioners-Capiz Chapter led by Jonny Dariagan of Capiz State University.

Some P24,990 was collected as registration fee from the participants to the event, Gonzaga said, explaining that the proceeds will go to the Pamana Foundation to support the education of children of government employees who died in the line of duty.

She said among the participating agencies for the fun run, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines had the highest attendance followed by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Gonzaga also said other agencies that registered included the Philippine National Police Airport Security Group, Metro Roxas Water District, Philippine Information Agency, National Statistics Office, local government unit of Dumalag town, Culasi Elementary School, Department of Education, Capiz State University and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

“Thank you to all those who joined, both in the three-kilometer and five-kilometer run, she said, citing the agencies and offices who sent big groups, namely CapSU, DPWH, CAAP, DepEd, PNP Airport Security Group, NSO, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

She said those who registered even if they were not able to participate in the actual run is also a clear manifestation of their cooperation and support to the activity.

Aside from the fun run, the best practices of local government units and public offices were shown through a photo exhibit here aside from the establishment of “One-Stop Shop” of government frontline services and showcase of the every agency’s Citizens Charter.

This year’s Philippine Civil Service anniversary celebration has a theme, “Kawani, Ikaw ay Isang Lingkod Bayani,” which aims to promote, showcase and celebrate heroism in public service and highlight stories of triumph and sacrifices among the men and women in the government.
