Coordinators' Taining To Boost Youth Development in Capiz PDF Print E-mail
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (May 28) -- Nineteen public secondary school teachers finished a five-day training on Interactive Intervention Strategies for Adolescent Health Youth Development Program (AHYDP) last May 18 at the Sky Garden Hotel here.
The training was aimed to strengthen the capabilities of the participants as new teen center coordinators of the 52 school-based youth-friendly project provincewide.

Gennie L. Mariano, administrative operation in-charge of Provincial Population Office (PPO) – Capiz, said that the recently concluded activity was in response to the needs conveyed by the concerned teachers during a consultative meeting last year.

The lead trainer for the activity was Commission on Population (PopCom) – Regional Population Office – 6 Adolescent Health Youth Development Program coordinator Angelita Tanong-tanong.

She was assisted by PPO – Capiz staff Marimi Diaz as well as Mary Grace Somil and regional peer educators Janelle Rose Tan and Jayrel Gambalan.

In April, a peer educators training was also conducted by PPO-Capiz which was attended by students from various public secondary schools.

The teen center coordinators will supervise the peer educators in managing the center and providing services like counseling, focused-group discussion, indoor activities like board games, musical instrument playing and video presentation on topics related to ARH, HIV/AIDS and prohibited drugs.
