RORO Operation Starts In Roxas City PDF Print E-mail
ROXAS CITY, Capiz(May 23) -– The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) – Roxas City Station welcomed the operation of roll-on roll off (RORO) service from Culasi port here to Batangas and vice-versa which started May 21.
“We welcome national developments,” said PCG – Roxas City Station commander LJG Jimmy Oliver Vingno.

He added that a mandatory pre-departure inspection as well as passenger assistance are being conducted by the PCG personnel in order to prevent overcrowding as well as overloading of vessels and attend to requests, inquiries and complaints of passengers.

“Ninety passengers and eight vehicles were accommodated in the maiden voyage,” Vingno noted.

Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas II was instrumental in realizing the Roxas City - Batangas RORO service.

Expected travel time for the new RORO route is about 16 hours.

The RORO vessel arrives at Culasi port at 8:00 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and departs at 12:00 noon on the same days.

Vingno stressed that the same services are also being conveyed by the station to another ship which plies the Culasi Port to Manila every Tuesday and Friday. (JCM/AAL-PIA 6, Capiz)
