ROXAS CITY, Capiz, (April 23) -- Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda lauded Roxas City, particularly barangay Tiza, for being one of the best in terms of program implementation of the Conditional Cash Transfer dubbed Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
Lacierda, who was in Capiz with Deputy Spokesperson Abigail Valte, said that they were instructed by President Benigno S. Aquino to come to Roxas City to assess the actual situation especially on the programs being implemented at the grassroots level.

“Hearing from the testimonies of the 4Ps beneficiaries in your area, I am glad that the program is working good,” he said.

The secretary said the national government is also now focusing on providing Universal Health Coverage for the Filipino people which will soon be realized with the passage of the Sin Tax Bill.

Lacierda explained that the P60 billion expected from the sin tax will be used for the implementation of the universal health coverage especially for the PhilHealth indigency program.

He noted that the 4Ps implementation in Roxas City would contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty, adding that the video testimonies of beneficiaries would be viewed by the President.

Jean Baulite, a mother of three kids, and Llane Deolino are the two program beneficiaries who gave their testimonies during the dialogue with Secretary Lacierda and Undersecretary Valte.

On the other hand, Lacierda thanked Roxas City Mayor Angel Alan Celino, officials and personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and barangay Tiza Punong Barangay Alfredo Albaladejo for the good 4Ps implementation in the city.

He also reiterated President Aquino’s promise that no one will be left in the fight against poverty.
