Be Part of "CAPIZtahan 2012" from April 13-15 in Roxas City! PDF Print E-mail
1. April 13 (Lucky Friday the 13th)

Capiztahan begins with a HOLY MASS at 8AM, Roxas City Cathedral. After the mass, FLAG CEREMONY follows at the Roxas City Plaza.

The REGIONAL AGRICULTURAL TRADE FAIR opens 9:30AM at Provincial Park. Then witness the Philippine Army's 3rd Army Infantry Division execute their daring SKY DIVING EXHIBITION at 10AM at nearby Villareal Stadium.

At 11AM, witness Department of Public Works and Highways’ Secretary Rogelio Singson lead the groundbreaking at Vista del Rio Subdivision, Libas of ROXAS CITY's CIRCUMFERENTIAL ROAD PROJECT that will connect Barangays Culasi and Libas.

Towards the evening at 6PM, watch the ceremonial lighting of 100-YEAR OLD CAPIZ BRIDGE & PLAZA LIGHTS in the presence of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr., and thereafter the opening of a “dancing” ROXAS CITY FOUNTAIN, to be capped by a CHORAL CHORUS OF A HUNDRED VOICES.


2. April 14 (Exciting Saturday)

At 9AM, be proud Capiznons as pages of our past are opened during the INAUGURATION OF PANUBLION MUSEUM. This affair shall be attended by Tourism Secretary Mon Jimenez.

At 9:30AM, a JOB FAIR follows at our Capiz Provincial Capitol. At the same time, visit the Seafood Capital’s fishing port in Barangay Libas!

Witness the launching of our PANAY RIVER CRUISE which departs 11:30AM from Roxas City's Plaza riverside. It shall bring you to the undiscovered mangrove trails of the city.

Celebrate FARMER’s DAY at 1:30PM (Capiz Gym) as our outstanding farmers get recognition from Agriculture Secretary Proseso Alcala. Together with this is the distribution of farm machineries, crop insurance certificates and turnover of a Tramline Project in the Tapaz Hinterlands.

By 2PM, our Capiz Government and Business Center and the new DILG Provincial Office building shall be inaugurated by Department of Interior & Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.

Visit the famous baroque, coral-stone Church of Pan-ay (Parish of Sta. Monica) which was built more than 300 years ago!

Don't miss Capiz'es very own ADVENTURE PARK in Talon, Roxas City as it is inaugurated at 3PM.

Learn more seafood recipes during a SEAFOOD COOKING DEMONSTRATION by renowned Master Chef, Margarita Fores!  Come to the Inauguration of Baybay Beach Peoples Park's new resto.

To culminate an exciting Saturday, witness the captivating PARADE OF LIGHTS at 6PM and the glorious FIREWORKS DISPLAY 8PM both at Baybay Beach!


3. April 15 (President Roxas' Death Anniversary Sunday)

As April 15 is the DEATH ANNIVERSARY of Capiznon Philippine President Manuel Acuna Roxas, his legacy shall be honored with a 7:30AM thanksgiving mass at Roxas City Cathedral and Wreath Laying at the Roxas City Plaza.

Our rich naval tradition shall be given significance with a BAROTO RACE along Panay River Plaza at 9AM.

There will be GROUNDBREAKING of the 300-bed Provincial Hospital at Capitol Hills in Brgy. Lanot, and the Inauguration and Blessing of the Health Centrum at Barangay Banica by Health Secretary Enrique Ona.

At 10AM, witness top level and valiant fighting cocks in a COCK DERBY at the Capiz Gymnasium.

Be entertained by the BATTLE OF THE BANDS at 1PM at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center.

Then at 2:30PM at Pueblo de Panay township, join officials at the GROUNDBREAKING of the proposed Robinsons Place Roxas mall complex and the Roxas City Transport Terminal in Lawaan, Roxas City.

Enjoy the bounties of the sea with a SEAFOOD FAIR 7PM at Baybay Beach.

Celebrate the finale of "Capiztahan 2012" event with Maja Salvador and Jake Cuenca at 8PM at Capiz Gym, Villareal Stadium, Roxas City.
