Cuartero Town Now Has Safe, Potable Water PDF Print E-mail

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (March 22) -- The long wait of the people in Cuartero, Capiz for access to potable water is over.
Mayor Roger Flores said that they have already opened to the public the access to safe drinking water after the inauguration of the Cuartero Water District recently.

Flores said that they have been hoping for the  project as he expressed gratitude to the government for providing said water system to his constituents.

He stressed that through this project, nearly 1,500 households within the town proper in Cuartero are expected to benefit from the water system which was realized through the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA).

Flores said that the government through LWUA had approved P11.64 million to fund said project that covers  three areas in the Poblacion and three other nearby barangays, namely Bitoon Ilaya, Bitoon Ilawod and Angub.

According to him, with such realized project in their area, the same would help them in addressing health and sanitation issues, and will also reflect better standard of living of the people.

Earlier, he revealed that some of his barangays, particularly in the upland, have already access to safe water through the government's Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Basic Services (CIDSS) program.

On the other hand, Engineer Rei Bernardo of LWUA who was the guest of honor, explained that the government through their office is working double time to help the country’s waterless towns.

He also pointed out that LWUA is determined to develop water districts and other water service providers into self-sustaining institutions by providing financial, technical, institutional and regulatory assistance.
