Capiz Exceeds Tax Collection Target for Jan 2012
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (Feb. 22) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) exceeds its collection target for the first month of the current year.
Information Officer Atty. Jose Rimi Lebrilla of BIR-Capiz said that based on their collection target for January this year amounting to P48.787 million, the Revenue District Office No. 72 was able to collect more than P53.42 million.
Lebrilla said that they are enthusiastic to do more particularly in the tax campaign that would result in higher revenues for the government after the January collection exceeded its target for the month.
Collection for the month is 9.51 percent higher than what was expected of them, Lebrilla said.
Compared to the January 2011 which was recorded at P41.76 million, this year’s revenue collection is higher by 27.92 percent or more than P11.66 million.
“The positive result in revenue collection is an indication that Capiceños are well-educated and fully aware of the importance of taxation in nation-building being the lifeblood of the nation as well as obliged themselves to pay exact taxes as their responsibility to the country,” he said.
Despite the high tax collection, BIR officials will still continue to intensify their efforts to sustain the trend especially that the filing of taxes has already been set on April 15, Lebrilla said, adding that for this year, the Capiz BIR office is targeting to collect P681.394 million in revenues.
Nationwide, the BIR’s target collection is set at P1.003 trillion in taxes which is 13 percent higher than the collection goal last year which was P940 billion.
