4Ps Is A Great Help To Capiceņo Indigents PDF Print E-mail
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (Feb. 21)  -- Top officials here said that the national government's poverty reduction program has greatly helped improve the lives of the people, especially the indigents.
Governor Victor Tanco speaking before the 4,901 program beneficiaries here of the conditional cash transfer, otherwise known as Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), said that Capiceños must be thankful to the national government for helping them in alleviating poverty.
Tanco challenged the beneficiaries to religiously comply with the conditions required by the program in order that they will continue to receive the cash grant.
He said that they are happy that all the 16 municipalities and one city in Capiz were already included in the program which indicates that all the extremely poor households will be given financial assistance by the government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The governor pointed out that the Pantawid program is also in line with the development agenda of Capiz which is to help and empower the poor for them to have a better life and a bright future.
On the other hand, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Violeta Silva reminded all the program beneficiaries to comply with the health requirements.
Silva also said that because of the cash grant, all children will be in school and will be able to finish their education.
She explained that the 4Ps is a poverty reduction and social development strategy of the national government through the DSWD that provides cash grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education particularly of children aged 0-14.
The distribution of cash grants to qualified household beneficiaries in Roxas City was also attended by Roxas City mayor Angel Alan Celino and city officials, Vice Governor Esteban Evan Contreras II, officials from the Land Bank of the Philippines, Department of Education, City Health, City Social Welfare and Development and local and DSWD officials.
