Information to Empower Filipinos Capiz Tax Campaign Kicks Off
ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Feb. 16 (PIA6) -- A massive information campaign on the Capiceños’ role in government revenue generation will start this month. Capiz Bureau of Internal Revenue Information Officer lawyer Jose Rimi Lebrilla disclosed that they are now preparing for the take activity of the tax campaign in the province on February 23.
He said that a caravan which will be headed by Western Visayas BIR Regional Director lawyer Romulo Aguila, Jr. will highlight the opening activity in Capiz
Lebrilla added that the caravan will start from Iloilo and will be saturating the entire provinces in Region 6.
A press conference on the same day will also be initiated to reach many Capiceños and explain the objectives and purposes of tax generation as well as the role of the public in said program.
He likewise pointed out that they will be holding a taxpayers’ forum sometime in March to inform the public, particularly the business and private sectors from the different towns in Capiz, on the new return required by their office.
Lebrilla said that this year’s tax campaign is anchored on the slogan “I love the Philippines, I pay taxes".
He revealed that this year, BIR is targeting P1.003 trillion in taxes which is more than 13 percent higher than the collection goal last year which was P 940 billion.
For Capiz alone, the collection goal this year is set at P 681.394 million which is higher than P578.07 million collection goal in 2011.
Earlier, Lebrilla revealed that the people in Capiz are well-informed and well-educated about the government’s taxation program, the reason, among others, why their office was able to exceed their revenue collection last year. (JSC/JBG-PIA6 Capiz)
