DTI to Organize Investment Promotion Officers in Capiz PDF Print E-mail
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (Feb. 13)– All local economic and onvestment promotion officers (LEIPO) in the province will be organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Capiz Provincial Office in March to spice up investment promotion in the province.
The organizational meeting will be complemented with an orientation on the duties and functions of LEIPOs and inventory of local government units (LGU) with investment code, said DTI – Capiz Public Information Officer Ken Cuñada.
“The city, municipal and provincial governments have designated their respective LEIPOs already,” Cuñada noted.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has issued a memorandum to all local chief executives (LCE) to designate LEIPO who will be responsible in the preparation, coordination and execution of local economic and investment promotion policies, projects and activities of the LGU.
“These LEIPOs will also be trained on investment promotion this year,” she added.
The training will also include orientation on the Provincial Investment Code, investment priorities of the national government and promotion of LEIPOs respective areas, among others.
LEIPOs are also expected to facilitate the establishment of an aggressive, systematic, coordinated, sustained promotion and marketing of the LGUs as investment location, provide basic information about business potentials of the locality including LGU services to prospective investors and establish a local economic database containing relevant facts and figures.
The upcoming activity is in line with President Benigno S. Aquino III’s call for LGUs to play an active role in attracting more investments by providing an enabling environment that will generate and enhance economic activities in the area.
