Capiz Allocates P300,000 for ‘Sendong’ Victims PDF Print E-mail
The resolution was subsequently approved by the members of the Capiz Provincial Board to appropriate the amount as financial assistance to Negros Oriental and the cities of Iligan and Cagayan De Oro in Mindanao.

Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco, Sr., who presided the PDRRMC’s special meeting, thanked the Council members who manifested their concern to help those devastated by Sendong’s wrath.

“PDRRMC – Capiz decides to share a portion of its calamity fund to the places shattered by Sendong,” said part of the resolution read during the special meeting.

In October, the provincial government has also allocated P400,000 as financial assistance to typhoons Pedring and Quiel victims in Central Luzon provinces.

Part of the amount was used in buying dried fish that could serve the needs of typhoon and flood victims. The relief item is representative of the province as a Seafood Capital of the Philippines.

Tanco noted that Capiz is reciprocating the past favors and generosity of other local government units when the province was also hit by calamities particularly when Typhoon Frank devastated Western Visayas in 2008.
