Bangko Sentral in Aklan to Transfer to Capiz PDF Print E-mail
KALIBO, Aklan, (Nov. 24) -- The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), after holding its operations for 27 years in Aklan, will be moving to Roxas City.

BSP Kalibo Branch Deputy Director Leonora S. Templonuevo who will also be heading the branch in Roxas City, said the bank will be receiving transactions only up to the end of Nov. of this year and then will be operating in their new office site at Arnaldo Boulevard in Roxas City, Capiz.

Templonuevo assured the Aklanons that despite their transfer, the BSP will continue to serve Aklan and Antique because these provinces are included in their coverage.

“Moving will be very hard for us employees – we will be leaving our homes, we will undergo adjustments, but like faithful soldiers and as government employees, we have to abide by our mandate,” Templonuevo said.

Templonuevo said the government's decision to move the BSP operations to Roxas City was planned in 2008. The BSP observed that there are more banks in the area which means there could be more transactions and more people and sectors that could be served.

Having operated in Aklan for 27 years, the soon-to-be transferred BSP Branch in Roxas City will be manned mostly by Aklanons. Of the total personnel, only 3 are non-Aklanons, said Templonuevo.

Prior to the impending transfer of the BSP to Roxas City, Aklan officials tried to retain the branch in Aklan but the BSP has already prepared its building in the new site.
