Capiz Support To Voc-Tech Lauded
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (Aug. 19) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has recognized the Capiz provincial government’s support to Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program.
“We thank the provincial officials for recognizing the value of tech-voc training,” said TESDA Deputy Director General for Field Operations lawyer Teodorico C. Pascua.
In 2006, the Capiz provincial board has also approved a CAPTESA Board resolution declaring every fourth week of August as TVET Week in the province.
The celebration is in time with TESDA’s anniversary as the country’s government agency tasked to manage and supervise technical education and skills development every August 25.
TESDA is proud of what Capiz has done in support to TVET.
The province has also tied up with TESDA, Department of Labor and Employment and Capiz State University to provide Capiceños, especially the out-of-school youth with skills for gainful employment.
It also offers scholarship under the Viable and Innovative College (VIC) Scholarship Program to poor but deserving students.
Based on VIC Scholarship program records, twenty-eight of the 229 VIC scholars graduated with bachelors degree and vocational – technical courses in the 2010 - 2011 school year.
In appreciation, TESDA – Capiz director Victor G. Gallego and CAPTESA President Dr. Rochellir Dadivas gave a plaque of appreciation to Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco, Sr. during the CAPTESA Day last August 17 at the Capiz Gym here. (JCM/AAL/PIA 6 Capiz)
