ROXAS City (July 19)— Gov. Victor Tanco was chosen by the University of the Philippines Alumni Association Inc.-Iloilo Chapter as this year’s University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Outstanding Professional for Public Service and Governance.
The UPV Outstanding Professional Awards is given to any UP graduate residing and working in Western Visayas who has outstanding achievements in his/her chosen field.
The criteria for the recognition include the nominee’s professional practice, advocacy, community service, volunteer works, leadership and membership to other organizations and awards, citations and honors received.
Acting Provincial Administrator Atty. Jose Villanueva said, “The best practices of the province of Capiz under his administration, which were further elaborated on his five-point development agenda, were the factors why he was chosen for the award.”
“As we can recall, Gov. Tanco was also one of the 2008 UPV Presidential Centennial Awardee, which was conferred by the same association, as recognition for his exemplary service to the Capiznon,” added Villanueva.
The awarding ceremony will be held at the UPV Auditorium, UPV, Gen. Luna St., Iloilo City on July 23, 2011, 6 p.m. (CPPB/PN
