NFA Capiz Sells Rice at P23.50/kg PDF Print E-mail
FA Capiz Public Information Officer Jose Davila, Jr. said that the each customer can buy a maximum of five kilograms during the period only at the NFA warehouse in Barangay Bolo here.

He added that a simple program for the NFA - Capiz employees has also been set on Sept. 24.

Grains Retailers Confederation (GRECON) regional president and Capiz Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) member James Magbanua and Provincial Farmers Action Council Chairman Dr. Aladino Leccio were invited to grace the program.

The celebration will also include a cooking demonstration and a taste test on IFR which slightly turns grayish when cooked but has more nutritional values because of the added iron.

The IFR is mandated under Republic Act 8976 to address the serious problem on Micronutrient Malnutrition. The micronutrients referred comprise of Vitamin A, Iron and Iodine.

NFA started as National Grains Authority (NGA) through Presidential Decree (PD) No. 4 dated September 26, 1972 with the mission of promoting the integrated growth and development of the grains industry covering rice, corn, feed grains and other grains like sorghum, mongo, and peanut.

In 1981, PD No. 1770 reconstituted the NGA into what is now the NFA with a widened social responsibilities and commodity coverage. (PIA)
