Capiz Task Force Undertakes Measures Vs Dengue PDF Print E-mail
In a meeting with the Dengue Crisis management Task Force chaired by Governor Victor Tanco, different measures at all levels have been discussed to address the problem of dengue fever here after Capiz has been declared under the State of Calamity due to dengue cases outbreak.

Included in the issues undertaken said meeting were the hospital-based programs to respond to the increasing number of dengue patients including the preventive measures for the spread of dengue disease, status of availability of blood at the Philippine Red Cross, as well as health education and promotion programs, among others.

According to Gov. Tanco, he has already made a directive to all government hospitals in Capiz to admit all dengue patients for free.

He also revealed that the provincial government will also subsidize the payment of processing fee of three bags of blood for transfusion to indigent dengue patients.

Amidst the increasing number of request for blood at the Philippine Red Cross, Tanco has also approved the hiring two medical technologists or nurses to augment the manpower of said agency, courtesy of the provincial government here.

On the other hand, Capiz PRC administrator Nelia Cartujano assures Capiceños that they have sufficient supply of blood for dengue patients.

Cartujano also expressed gratitude to the people from all the sectors in Capiz for continuously donating blood to the PRC here, a reason that it has not suffered any blood supply shortage.

Earlier, Tanco has requested the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to declare the entire province of Capiz under the state of calamity due to dengue cases outbreak in order to also utilize part of the province's calamity fund for dengue-related measures. (PIA)
