CAPELCO Stabilizes Power Supply PDF Print E-mail
"We have a stable power supply now," CAPELCO General Manager Engr. Edgar Diaz said during a recent media interaction that was called on by the cooperative to convey the positive developments of power supply in the province.

Diaz has also recognized the help of Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco, Sr. and former Capiz 2nd district Congressman Fredenil Castro who helped in tapping the services of Salcon Island Power Corporation based in Dingle, Iloilo to supply the power shortage of the cooperative.

The baseload power suppliers of CAPELCO's 23-megawatt peak demand are Enervantage in Panit-an, Capiz and Green Core Geothermal Inc. based in Negros Oriental.

He has also thanked the local tri-media practitioners for their help in explaining to member-consumers the cause of rotating brown outs which peak last June in the province.

"The member-consumers also for their maximum patience," Diaz stressed.

During the media interaction, the CAPELCO official has expressed optimism that the coal-fired power plant in Barangay Ingore, Lapaz will supply the cooperative late this year as the agreement with Salcon is only temporary and will also end in 2010.

The first-ever coal-fired power plant will provide a cheaper and reliable power supply to Panay Island upon its completion and full operation. (PIA)
