The health initiative has resulted to Vitamin A supplementation and immunization of 59 and 15 children, respectively.
Deworming tablets were also given to 61 children.
"Aside from GP services, the PHO and MHO also provided dental, medical consultation and Family Planning counseling services for women who have unmet needs," said a GP newsletter.
Provincial Health Officer I Dr. Samuel Delfin and Panit-an Municipal Health Officer Dr. Christy Nelly Advincula led the team which also provided GP as well as free dental and medical consultation services to residents of Cabangahan's adjacent barangays of Ambilay and Cabugao.
GP is an institutionalized pre-schoolers' health campaign implemented nationwide wherein a package of services and relevant health information is delivered twice a year to all children under five years old.
The strategy has been adopted by the Department of Health (DOH) to reduce childhood illnesses and deaths through strong promotion of health service delivery by increasing awareness of good child-rearing practices and health seeking behaviors among mothers and caregivers.
Cabangahan Punong Barangay Roger Deimoy has conveyed his appreciation to the GP team which was composed of some PHO and Panit-an MHO and Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) staff as well Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF) HealthPRO documentors.
Cabangahan is considered as the farthest barangay of Panit-an and has a total of 969 population based on the August 2007 census of population.
