Roxas City Schools Set Brigada Eskwela Plus on May 31 PDF Print E-mail
Roxas City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jessie M. Gomez said that the belated observance of the initiative is aimed to get the maximum involvement and support from the community.

However, he clarified that "a soft opening" which involved an orientation and advocacy about the campaign coincide on the opening week of the Brigada Eskwela last May 24.

This year's campaign aims to achieve larger and more significant goals such as year-round cleaning of school grounds, repainting of the roof and exterior walls, repairing of leaking water pipes, ceiling boards, broken furniture and windows by volunteers with the help of donations in kind from corporations and non-government organizations.

The program also intends to reduce the number of dropouts and improve student performance.

Since its inception in 2003, Brigada Eskwela has become a movement that has ensured the readiness of public schools for school opening. More than seven million volunteers comprising parents, teachers, employees, local government units, alumni associations and civic organizations have joined Brigada Eskwela in 2009 alone.
