Capiz PNP Conducts 30 Checkpoint Operations Daily PDF Print E-mail
The heightened police operation against the violators of the total gun ban has resulted in the apprehension of 15 persons since the prohibition of carrying firearms was implemented on Jan. 10 in view of the upcoming May polls.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Director Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas has directed the conduct of intensified visibility patrol and checkpoint/chokepoint operations to foil any criminal incidence that may adversely affect the election situation in Western Visayas.

"Our goal is to make the May 10, 2010 elections credible by keeping the peace and order," the top cop said in a PRO 6 website news.

One of the major proactive security measures being implemented by PRO6 is the conduct of regular and random checkpoints/chokepoints.

In a report to Camp Crame, PRO6 averages between 280-350 checkpoint/chokepoint operations everyday.

"This must be in 24/7 basis," Cuevas stressed saying that all police stations including the maneuver companies are required to submit after activity report to ensure that his order is being complied with.

He also underscored that monitoring teams from PRO6 Headquarters are being deployed to check the personnel in the field. (A. Lumaque
