Comelec Sets Orientation for Capiz Mediamen PDF Print E-mail
Lawyer Wil S. Arceño, Provincial Election Supervisor, said that the briefing will focus on the Fair Election Act and rules of conduct that will be observed in the coverage of the upcoming automated polls.

The COMELEC guidelines for accredited media practitioners state that proper identification must be presented by covering mediamen to the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) and not more than three media representatives shall be allowed inside the polling place at any one time, among others.

The Commission allows duly accredited domestic and foreign media of a maximum access to all stages of the electoral process subject to conditions essential for the protection of COMELEC personnel, property and privileged information.

However, any media representative found to be engaging in unprofessional activities like engaging in partisan political activities, distributing campaign materials and displaying any behavior deemed disruptive of the conduct of voting, counting or canvassing shall have his/her Media Card revoked.

The Media Cards were issued by COMELEC to media representatives of various organization who want to be accredited for the coverage of the 2010 polls. (Alex Lumaque, PIA)
