DOLE Gives Livelihood Assistance to Pan-ay Town PDF Print E-mail
DOLE Capiz Provincial Head Ricardo P. Monegro delivered the check for the town's skills trainings on native bag weaving, fish processing and seashell craft project.

The amount was received by Panay town Mayor Dante Bermejo.

The project is part of DOLE's capacity building services for livelihood formation that will benefit 70 selected beneficiaries of Panay Resettlement Project at Lingga-anay Village in Barangay Bonga, Panay, said a DOLE news release.

A ten-day training for seashell craft will involve 20 beneficiaries while the remaining 50 beneficiaries will attend the native bag weaving and fish processing lessons.

"It is expected that participants will be provided appropriate training facilities and livelihood to augment their income," the article noted.

As an accredited co-partner (ACP), Pan-ay town will provide an amount worth P273,000.00 as counterpart.

The DOLE Regional Office has been helping disadvantaged workers who opt to engage in entrepreneurial undertakings as their source of income.

Identified beneficiaries of the DOLE's assistance were workers in the formal and informal economy that include farmers, fishermen, unemployed women, carpenters, persons with disabilities, parents of child laborers, vendors, tricycle drivers, teachers, and employees, among others.  (Alex Lumaque, PIA)
