One Visayas Celebration Opens PDF Print E-mail
It is a gathering of Eastern, Central and Western Visayas provinces in celebration of Culture, Arts and History, and will run until March 14.

The four-day event will showcase cultural performances, parade of festivals, crafts and food fair, visual arts, artistic workshops, heritage exhibits, destination selling, cooking demonstrations, photo exhibits and cultural outreach programs.

The event will provide opportunity for Capiz folks to have a glimpse of the courage and bravery of their own local heroes, particularly those who participatedin the Philippine revolution which broke out on August 23, 1896 and spread to Capiz in 1877.

While the participants from Negros Occidental will showcase history based on the Cinco de Noviembre. A film showing on the Cinco de Noviembre, short films by Manny Montelibano and other film makers in Negros Occidental and tourism attractions will be shown daily.

The TESDA in the province is taking charge of the crafts and food fair which has been the highest in sales the past two events also in Capiz. Bago City will represent the province in conducting a cooking demonstration on Panara - the Negrense way.

Concert at the Park and Cultural Performance plus outreach programs are participated in by the Kabataang Silay Ensemble, Poseidon and Kanlaon Theatre Dance group to represent Negros.

One Visayas was conceptualized by the Regional Development Council (RDC) officials of the three Visayan regions in 2008 to showcase the arts and cultures of Region 6, 7 and 8. It was first held in Cebu City last year.
